Loyd was born August 4, 1919 in Mitchell, the son of Loyd A. and Ethel Lena (Moore) Durfee. Loyd joined the army in August 1941 and took basic training at Camp Callan in San Diego, CA. My name is Richard Porter. Ray Embree was my step-father. As a child, I can remember him telling me that he was at Anzio and then spent D-Day as a P.O.W. in a forward Stalag.
