27/12/03 at 11:21 - Italia Thanks Boys! Marino Zinato.
12/02/03 at 07:39 - USA Bravo, Monsieur Lefebvre pour ce site! Vous rendez grand honneur a nos heros et a mon pere, Dalmain Estes. Thank you for this excellent site. My father landed on Omaha Beach with the 467th AAA Batallion, attached to the 1st Infantry. He took a Nazi flag from bunker WN65 that day and returned it to the Musee Omaha 6 juin in 1994 where it can be seen today.Thank you for honoring him with your generous gift of a ticket to France next June. I am Dal's son,a Vietnam combat veteran, and will have the honor of accompanying my father, sister and brother to the 60th anniversary ceremonies. The Estes family looks forward to meeting you! Sincerely, David Estes, son of Dal Estes, 467th AAA attached to 1st Infantry Division
11/20/03 at 14:23 - USA My father was part of Company L, 16th Infantry. His name was Lawrence J. Meilander and he was captured by 52 Germans while attending to a fallen soldiers wounds. Because his parents were from Luxembourg, and his father did not speak English, my father knew enough German that he was able to talk his 52 captors into giving themselves up! Just one of many stories about so many who were heroes during D-Day! Thomas H. Meilander
11/16/03 at 16:14 - The Netherlands This is a very interesting web site. I am very much interested in the recent history and in particular in World War II and the invasion in Normandy, that resulted in the liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation. For several years now my wife and i visit Normandy every year at the beginning of june to participate into the commemorations of D day. We always stay at Arromanches-les-Bain, which is situated quite in the centre of the landing beaches. This enables us to visit every year not only the British and the Canadian sectors, but also Omaha Beach, the American Cemetary of Colleville sur Mer, Pointe du Hoc, Utah Beach, St. Mère-Eglise etc. Each time we are there we are very impressed when thinking of the battles that took place almost 60 years ago, where so many soldiers shed their blood and gave their lives to liberate Europe from nazism so that we could live in peace. We owe our liberators a lot!! Kock Jan
11/02/03 at 21:31 - Afganistan Very romantic site. Ringo.
10/31/03 at 20:02 - USA I have read my father's description of D-Day in his copy of your book. It is an excellent book and with his recent passing, I am very grateful that you have worked so hard to document the words of the brave men who fought for all of us. Thank you. Jim Krieger

09/28/03 at 03:31 - USA We landed on the beach the morning of June 6th 1944..It was a tough landing that cost us several crewmembers and almost losing the craft when we hit a mine that ruptured a couple of our water tight compartments that caused us to almost get hung up on the beach and being blown out of the water completely..With the help of another crafts anchor and winch we were finally off the beach and ready to try landing at some other point. Albert Jean Baptiste Berard - Landing Craft Tank----LCT 538

Nicoletta Barale - Carmagnola (Torino) Italie

07/15/03 at 12:17 - Belgium Laurent, it is a good thing to surf back in on the site from time to time. I enjoyed our little meeting in Saint Laurent (what's in a name...) sur Mer on June 4th this year. I am reading your book at ease and carefully, I enjoyed every minute reading it and I have to say "I already learned a lot", things I did not know about. I am really pleased with the fact I met such a nice person, and I hope we can meet again next year. This seems a bit of a struggle at this time, seen that all hotels seem to be booked out. Still, I am continuing my searches, and hopefully something will come up here or there.. Keep up the good work with this excellent website ! Surf also in on our Airborne sites whenever you have the time : http://users.tijd.com/fiwi. Greetz from northern Belgium, your friend Filip Willems.
07/15/03 at 02:51 - USA I just viewed your website and was able to find my Uncle's grave...thank you for all of the hard work you did on this website. I noticed that you had a notice asking for a photograph or the history of these men to help supplement this site. I do not know much about my Uncle's history, but I do have a photograph of him. I am scanning it for you and if I can find any information on him I will send it. His Mother was Mary Perrin Bryant and his Father was William Bryant, from Anderson, SC. His brothers were: Claude, Hugh and Fred Baugus, and Amos, Clarence A. and Otis G. Bryant, if this is any help to you. Thanks again. Joyce Stewart
07/10/03 at 05:00 - USA The family of Albert J. Breslove would like to find anyone who served with him to help us with information that fill in the gaps that we now have. He was with the 16th infantry. He was in WWII. He was in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. We think he served about 1941-46. Any help you can give we would appreciate. Thank you. Breslove, Bobbie

05/13/03 at 23:49 - USA My grandfather, a lieutentant in the U.S. Army at the time of the Normandy invasion, passed away peacefully recently in his hometown of Hoxie, KS. I grew up hearing his stories of his service to the U.S., including his experience at Omaha Beach. He was a great man. He always wanted to return to the Normandy Coast, even up to his last days. Unfortunately, he never made it. He lived a long, happy life, one that was altered greatly by his experiences during WWII, particularly that on June 6, 1944. Jeff Caldwell

I and my family 'll never forget you and we don't mind spending time to support US policy in any case: no question about it ! Mom remembers august 1944 when she saw troops of 4 th ID entering in Paris, so despite President Chirac position, we think US soldiers make a very good job in Irak ! Let me now send you those simple words: be welcome for the 60 th D. Day remembrance on 2004, june, the 6 th ! Dindeleux Thierry
04/22/03 at 04:34 - USA My father (Elbie A. Theall) served his country in WWII. He is now buried in Henri'Chapel in Belgium. He was killed in March of 1945. Unfortunately, he never made it to D-Day. ( He was killed just before my fourth birthday. Jeanell (Theall) Foreman.

04/02/03 at 22:37 - Holland Cher M. Lefebvre, C'est vraiment une Web site formidable! I saw a number of Billy Melanders's stories that I didn't know yet. I'm following up on some of his stories from a later period, i.e. when the 29th was in Germany, just over the Dutch border in the winter of 1944. It's a good thing you could trace the Legallois family for him. Salutations cordialles, Joost Claassens, Limbricht, Pays Bas.

I want to thank you for doing so very much work to get this site working and lokking beautiful with so much information. I think it has the best information that I have seen. We had a wonderful time which seemed so short, but you made us feel so honored and welcome, I personally would like to repay your hospitality and invite you and your family to come visit with me and my family any time you could make it. My son Larry shared your Email with me and how proud I was to see the pictures of those veterans of the 1st Infantry Division on your website. Thanks again. Paul Vervack - 1st Infantry Division

03/28/03 at 21:59 - USA Laurent, My name is Larry Vervack. My father, Paul and I met you during the September 2002 trip with the 1st Infantry Division. You may remember that we met in St. Mere Eglise and had a nice French beer together! We recently visited your website and saw the great pictures you placed there of the trip. In fact, the first picture was the one of my father in the cemetary. We had a great time on that trip and we thank you for your graciousness and your hospitality. We know that America and the French have had their differences lately, but we have over 200 years of friendship that I am sure will overcome this minor problem. You are always welcome here in America. Thanks again for a great website to our American veterans. Larry Vervack San Antonio, TX

03/09/03 at 05:41 - USA Howdy, Laurent! Mom & Dad have shared with me your messages. And I am most honored that you would like to link to our Website. Please, feel free to do so. With your permission, I would also like put up a link from ours to yours. (When I have time, that is.) Like Mom & Dad, I live on the West Coast. But I live down in Oregon, northwest of Portland. Had it not been for your French Resistance during World War II, Dad might not have survived and I might not exist. France and the United States of America have been good friends and allies for over 200 years now. So the current political situation is very distressing. Receiving your messages and seeing your Website, especially at this time, are very heartening. Thank You! Brunetta Lafara Lingg.
03/08/03 at 08:16 - USA Your site is a wonderful tribute that is very well done. Thank you for helping people to see and read what they otherwise might not. If you see the new group photos, you'll see the 3rd Battalion, 115th Infantry, Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers. This was the battalion that came from the are where I live. The 3rd Bat, was the "Eastern Shore" battalion of Maryland. Originally the 115th was the 1st Maryland Infantry. Tim Roop www.ww2dday.com
